Person-Centered Therapy

Mountain

Person-centered therapy, also known as client-centered therapy, is an approach to psychotherapy that focuses on the client's experience and perspective. It is based on the belief that clients have the ability to find their own solutions to their problems and that they are the best experts on their own lives. The therapist creates a safe and non-judgmental environment where the client can explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors without fear of criticism or rejection. The therapist also demonstrates empathy, unconditional positive regard, and congruence to help the client develop a greater sense of self-awareness, self-acceptance, and personal growth.
