In my years of private practice, I have worked with many clients with a wide array of mental health issues and challenges with adjusting to the difficulties of life. Yet, I find that my most important skills are used in helping people overcome the obstacles that accompany trauma, such as anxiety, depression, fear, guilt, and a sense of helplessness. My mission is to provide the highest quality of care to every client to assist in relieving suffering and bringing clients back to balance and joy. I am known to be authentic in my approach, compassionate, a great listener, and concise and direct while providing balanced support and encouragement. I specialize in trauma yet also work with anxiety disorders, depression, grief, life transitions, ADHD, and navigating illness. I have a particular affinity for and am honored to work with both Veterans and First Responders. I am an EMDR-Certified Clinician through the EMDR Institute and value this modality as one of the most powerful tools in my therapist toolbox.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Arizona (license # LPC-15211) and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). I received my bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and my Master's Degree from Prescott College. My additional training focuses on the work of some of our time's most prominent trauma psychologists and theorists. In addition, I am trained in military core cultural competency and understand the military ethos and its implication in therapy. |
When I am not with clients, I am usually outdoors. I am an avid horseman, mule packer, hiker, and skier. I have been in the Verde Valley for over 25 years and intimately know the mountains, valleys, rivers, and ruins from years of adventures exploring Sedona and the surrounding areas. I have traveled the world extensively and feel that this brings a richness of perspective to my work and formal education. I actively practice the skills I advise in counseling; they have made all the difference in my life.
